Weekly Prayer Gathering

The purpose is to bring together people of all faiths and beliefs who feel that it is time to take the power of prayer to a community-wide level. If we want peace in the world, then let's lay the groundwork of Agape, or Unconditional Love, through prayer and service, right here where we live. We hope to start a chain reaction of positive power that could uplift everyone in our whole region.

Ultimately, demonstrating Love and Service every day is the only sound foundation upon which we can build a sustainable community and world. Spiritual awakening is needed now more than ever as our society faces so many challenges from within and from without.

We start with silent prayers and then everyone either prays silently or if you choose to, verbalize your prayer to the group in the manner that you are used to. In this way, we let people be true to thier own faith and manner of prayer.

Prayer meetings are each Friday from 12:15-12:45 PM at 497 Highland Ave.

Why Pray?

It is not fashionable to pray these days. In an age of technological wonders we may feel confident that we can solve our problems at the level of our ego-mind and may think that prayer is for the weak. Is it any wonder that the divorce rate is so high, that politics and economic life are filled with corruption as so many people think that they can go it alone, without help? It's time to admit that we do need help, that our small egos can't solve life's issues alone, that prayer, in fact, is for the strong.

What is Prayer

Prayer is both communion with and consciously practicing the presence of God. It is like spiritual boot camp where we admit the need for help and acknowledge dependence upon God, not just to solve our personal problems, but so that a Higher Love can flow through us to shape us into a useful instrument of service in this hurting world.

Prayer Focus

It is important to have a focus. We are focused on the bigger picture—establish a more continuous connection to God so that we can rebuild society from the ground up—starting with ourselves, family, and local community. It's time to go back to basics, be absolutely honest with ourselves, and ask God to illuminate all of the areas that we are weak in character so that we can be strong in Love. Each of us can then become a brilliant lighthouse capable of transforming this foggy world.

Pray to allow God to fill us up with Love so that we can free ourselves of all fear, anxiety, and self absorption. Pray that we can become an instrument of peace and healing to our family; our community, nation, and world. Make a commitment to pray this every day.
